PowerPay Earth-Friendly Landmark
Friday, August 21st, 2009PowerPay CEO Stephen Goodrich enjoy[ed] a light moment on Thursday as he unveil[ed] details of a $10 million renovation that will convert the former Portland Public Market into a Gold LEED-certified energy-efficient office building for the company’s 130 workers. The construction, which started in April, is due to be completed in December or January. Goodrich bought the building for about $2 million last October. (August 21, 2009, Portland Press Herald)

Maine is growing its own when it comes to green jobs
Monday, August 17th, 2009Naomi Mermin, board chairperson for the Maine Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council, is featured in Maine Voices of the Portland Press Herald talking about the how the success of Hannaford’s LEED Platinum store ties to green jobs in the building industry in Maine.
The Hannaford project is a real-world example of the concept of “green jobs.” It takes a team approach to make a high performance green building – especially when targeting the Platinum level of certification – and Hannaford was able to rely on a number of other Maine-based companies to plan and build the new supermarket.
