The Portland Public Market stood empty for two years after closing due to financial struggles.  The re-developing Bayside neighborhood and the City of Portland worked for those two years to find a new use for the timber frame building that was only about a dozen years old.  PowerPay  performed a major renovation of the building, replacing old mechanical systems and upgrading the envelope of the building where it was needed.  The location of the building is one of its greenest features, with an existing parking garage attached, multiple bus lines in walking distance, a car share program and many amenities nearby.  LEED Gold, required by more than one of the funding sources for the project, was targeted and achieved.  Fore Solutions was involved early in the design process to assist the team with design strategies, energy modeling and LEED administration.
