The Portland Public Market stood empty for two years after closing due to financial struggles. The re-developing Bayside neighborhood and the City of Portland have worked for those two years to find a new use of the timber frame building that is only about a dozen years old. PowerPay is performing a major renovation of the building replacing old mechanical systems and upgrading the envelope of the building where it is needed. The location of the building is one of its greenest features with an existing parking garage attached and multiple bus lines, a car share program and many amenities nearby. LEED Gold is targeted and required by more than one of the funding sources for the project. Fore Solutions was involved early in the design process to assist the team with design strategies, energy modeling and LEED administration.
