Along with Payette Associates and BR+A, Fore Solutions is providing Sustainability and LEED Consulting Services for two projects on the VA Medical Center campus in Brockton, MA. These projects have ambitious sustainability goals including 30% reduction in energy use, net zero stormwater runoff, daylighting for 50% of the daytime hours and net zero hot water use for the patient living spaces. During the design development phase, Fore Solutions proposed over 25 Energy Conservation Measures for the team to consider, including a low cost geo-exchange system to preheat and pre-cool outside air, a shower hot water recovery system, radiant heating and cooling and advanced occupancy controls that trigger lower ventilation rates during long stretches of unoccupied time. Additionally, Fore Solutions is assisting in refining daylight design concepts and natural ventilation strategies. Both projects are pursuing the new LEED for Healthcare rating system.
