Metro Green has the distinction of being the first home to earn a LEED for Homes Platinum rating in Virginia.  It has also been awarded the Best Residential Project Award from the Virginia Sustainable Building Network for 2009.  Built on an infill site, close to mass transit and community services in North Arlington, this project is a collaborative effort between Metro Green and Kaplan Thompson Architects. The home boasts a super insulated shell using SIPS panels, a geothermal heating and cooling system and grid tied PV panels. The site and home have been designed with a comprehensive runoff catchment system. With the use of a green roof, water cisterns and permeable surfaces, the project manages all of the stormwater on site. The project was also careful to use water efficient fixtures, low VOC paints, local materials and recycled over 80% of its construction waste.  Fore Solutions served as the LEED for Homes Provider.
